Abstract: Drinking water safety guarantee in mining area has been neglected in China for years. The existing problems of water safety in mining area include natural water environment pollution in mining process, reduction of utilizable water, destruction of natural water cycling, water quality pollution by emergency accident in mining area, lack of water safety guarantee and supervision regulations etc. In the light of the existing problems, the suggestions on setting up a protection and prevention system for water environment in water sources area suitable for the characteristics of mining area, optimizing water safety guarantee system from water plant to terminal user in mining area, setting co-water safety guarantee system of "government to mining enterprise to user"  are put forward to provide reference for ensuring drinking water safety and solving drinking water safety problems in mining area.
