Abstract: The installation of counterweight and drum steel rope is a difficult technology in ship lift project construction. A new installation scheme is introduced, and the advantages and disadvantages of traditional and new installation schemes are analyzed from the aspects of technology characteristics, construction period and safety. The engineering practice in steel rope winding scheme in ship lift of Silin Hydropower Station showed that the new installation scheme could shorten the construction period and ensure project quality and safety.
