Abstract: Water quality standard for drinking water sources is an important basis for the evaluation and protection of water environmental quality in water sources area.Through analysis on the main water quality standard systems of water sources in China and abroad and comparing the differences between the current main water quality standards such as Drinking Water Sources Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water(GB 3838-2002) and Standards for Drinking Water Quality(GB5749-2006), we point out the problems and shortcomings in water quality index system in China, and put forward some suggestions to further improve the water quality index system of drinking water source in China.
