Abstract:
The impoundment of Three Gorges Reservoir causes a large reduction of inflow to Gezhouba Reservoir in October and November and further significantly changes the hydrological and hydrodynamic conditions of Chinese sturgeon′s spawning ground in the downstream of Gehouba reservoir dam, which have adverse effects on their natural reproduction. On the basis of discussing suitable flow and velocity of Chinese sturgeon′s spawning ground and considering the influence of power generation flow increasing of Gezhouba Hydropower Station, a two-dimensional hydro-dynamical model was established, further two optimal ecological dispatching solutions were explored. The results show that changing the position of power discharge is beneficial to improving the flow condition of Chinese sturgeon′s spawning ground in a certain extent, while increasing the generating unit rated flow is hardly effective.
