Abstract:
The outlet channel of some river-bank spillways are characterized as narrow and zigzag with steep slopes and riverbed foundation of poor anti-scouring ability. When ski-jump energy dissipation is selected for this type of spillway, the ski-jump flow may hit and scour the apron and flip bucket foundation, which will endanger the downstream slope stability. In order to verify the deflecting flow hydraulic geometry and its scouring influence on riverbed and bank slope, the spillway of Minlehe Reservoir was taken as a case, hydraulic model test was carried out to optimize the shape of flip bucket. The test result shows that bevel-type flip bucket with deflector can improve the flow geometry and has little influence on downstream riverbed and slope, which will ensure the safety operation of the project.
