Abstract:
Based on the foundation of a transmission tower in desert area, we discuss the load transfer and bearing capacity of inclined piles under different angles and related conditions via numerical simulation method. The finite element analysis results show: when pile inclination is no more than 10°, the angle has little effect on the ultimate uplift bearing capacity of a single pile, however it may generate a certain bending moment in the body of the pile and a certain horizontal displacement on the top. The pile cap is helpful to reducing horizontal displacement and bending moment of the pile. In calculation of the vertical uplift bearing capacity of inclined pile with a large inclination angle, the lateral friction resistance below the top of the pile should be discounted to a certain extent. The lateral friction at the ends of the pile shows a weakening trend generally.
