Abstract: On the basis of analyzing soil and water loss caused by water transfer project construction in Northern Hubei, a series of prevention countermeasures are proposed for survey and design phase, construction preparation period, construction period and operation period; the methods include rational allocation of earth and stone, reasonable selection of dumping grounds, stone dump yard and material yard, applying measures of retaining slag, drainage, slope protection, temporary protection, land consolidation and forestation to different zones, and strengthening the implementation of protection measures in accordance with the "three simultaneous" system. Relevant experience can be referred to similar projects of preventing water loss and soil erosion.
