Abstract: Expressway project construction has the characteristics of long route, complicated construction technologies and long construction duration. In the construction process, different areas vary considerably in their environmental influential factors including site conditions, soil and water loss characteristics, terrain distribution, topographical features and construction technologies. In the light of the influence of expressway construction on soil and water loss, this paper analyzes the soil and water loss characteristics of expressway construction and discusses the idea and methods for its prevention and control. It is proposed that construction management should be optimized according to different construction stages and the combined measures should be taken along the route in the ways of points-lines-areas according to the zoning of soil and water loss prevention and control to improve the overall prevention and control effect and avoid environmental risks.
