Abstract: Promoting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is a major regional development strategy of China. The Three Gorges Project provides flood control, water supply, shipping and power security for the Yangtze River Economic Belt development. In terms of safety, the Three Gorges Project effectively regulates the flood, which has greatly improved the flood control standards of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In terms of water supply, the Three Gorges Reservoir is the largest strategic reservoir of fresh water resources in China, and the water quality of the main stream in the reservoir area is generally stable in class Ⅱ ~ Ⅲ, which ensures the safety of water supply for cities and villages in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In terms of shipping, the Three Gorges Project is a key project in the development of shipping in Yangtze River, which makes the Chuanjiang River and Jingjiang reach a real "golden waterway" and promotes the development of the shipping in Yangtze River in a high quality and fast manner. In terms of electricity, the Three Gorges Project plays an important strategic role in China's energy resources. It provides high quality electric power to central China, East China and Guangdong Province, and promotes the sustainable development of economy and society. In addition, the Three Gorges Project has played a great role in protecting ecological environment in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, reducing atmospheric and environmental pollution, promoting the development of green shipping in the Yangtze River, improving the water quality of the lower reaches of the dam, and building a new type of reservoir area with ecological civilization, good environment and lucid waters and lush mountains.
