Abstract: A regional catastrophic flood occurred in Sichuan Province in August 2020. Under the unified command of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Changjiang Water Resources Commission of Ministry of Water Resources, and the strong leadership of the provincial party committee and provincial government, Sichuan Water Resources Department planned early, made careful arrangements, responded actively, prevented and controlled scientifically, and the people along the Changjiang River fought tenaciously and united to control the flood, and effectively alleviated the loss of flood disaster. On the basis of analyzing the features of the flood, 5 important experiences of winning this victory were summarized, including strong organization and leadership, good flood control engineering system, in-place implementation of responsibility, accurate forecast and early warning, and joint flood control operation.
