Abstract:
In July 2020, due to the strong rainfall in the Chuhe River Basin, the water level of Xianghekou sluice on the main stream of the Chuhe River reached a record high, despite the use of flood storage and detention areas including Huangcaoer polder and Huangcaosan polder. Based on the recent flood data, we analyzed the characteristics of the Chuhe River flood and flood encounters with the mainstream flood of the Yangtze River, then sorted out the main problems of flood control above Xianghekou sluice in 2020. The results showed that the main reason of the highest historical water level of Chuhe River in the upper reaches of Xianghekou in 2020 was the huge flow at upstream. According to this situation, we put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions such as constructing or transforming some flood diversion channels, pumping stations and channel harnessing projects to enhance the discharge capacity of river channel, and increasing water storage of upstream reservoirs to reduce discharge flow. The results can provide technique support for revising the flood control plan of Chuhe River.
