Abstract: The soft rock is a weathered rock with loose structure,poor utilization,which is widely distributed in the Northern Shaanxi Province,Inner Mongolia,Shaanxi Province and some other arid and semi-arid region in China.The soft rock and sand compound soil technique has changed the situation that the soft rock seriously endangers the ecological environment,generates soil erosion and not be explored effectively.In this paper,the formation mechanism of soft rock and sand compound soil was introduced.The research progress,application results,and limitations of existing research on the technique of sand fixation,soil physical properties,soil chemical properties,and the soil influence on crop growth and yield were reviewed.The article also pointed out that the study on physical,chemical and biological properties of the technique was not enough,the application period of the technology was still short,and the soil carbon sequestration and heavy metals in this soil were needed to be further studied.
