Abstract: In order to meet the increasingly urgent simulation calculation demand in overseas electric power project, on the basis of learning from the experience of overseas electric power project, the technical characteristics of four simulation analysis software such as PSS/E,Power Factory, EMTP-RV and ETAP with high recognition and applicability from the perspective of electromagnetic transient and electro-mechanical transient were introduced in this paper, and the functional characteristics and application scope of these software were analyzed.The study indicated that the applicable simulation calculation software should be selected according to the power system analysis perspective.The research results can provide reference for Chinese enterprises to choose power system simulation analysis software in the construction of "the Belt and Road" overseas electric power projects.
