Abstract:
Sand-gravel resource is the second largest natural resources consumed in China in recent years, supporting the rapid development of economy and society. In this paper, the causes of insufficient supply of river sand-gravel resources in Hubei Province in recent years were analyzed, then the countermeasures were presented. The analysis results showed that the problem between supply and demand of river sand-gravel resource in Hubei Province was mainly caused by the sharp decrease of sediment discharges in the Yangtze River and its tributaries, the continuous erosion of rivers and lakes, and the environmental protection policies. With the construction and operation of upstream reservoirs, and the continuous development of soil and water conservation, it was expected that the contradiction between supply and demand of water sand-gravel resource in Hubei Province will exist for a long time. By strengthening river evolution trend analysis, dynamically adjusting the mining areas in the Yangtze River and the Hanjiang River, reasonably planning sand mining in small tributaries and lake areas, and replenishment of other sand-gravel sources, the supply ability of the water sand-gravel resource in Hubei Province can be improved.
