Abstract:
The widely distributed debris flows along the northern line of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway are numerous and active, which seriously affect the normal operation of the highway. On the basis of data collection, remote sensing interpretation, and field investigation, we systematically studied the development status and hazard characteristics of debris flows along the northern line of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway that is from Xinduqiao Town, Sichuan Province to Changdu City, Tibet, consequently giving the corresponding control measures and recommendations. The research results show that: ① there are 339 debris flows of various types along the northern line of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, most are rainfall, diluted and middle, low-frequency type; ② the debris flows basins are mostly in the shape of long strips, with a small area, short gully, and steep gradient; ③ the impacted objects are mainly bridges, culverts, and pavements by the ways of scouring, abrasion and silting. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended to take targeted prevention and control measures according to the fluid property, activity frequency, and hazard way of debris flow in different sections to ensure the highway operation safely.
