Abstract:
A detailed three-dimensional numerical model was established for the segment joints with gaskets commonly used in the segment lining of water conveyance tunnel constructed by shield tunneling machine, considering the stress of concrete mortise, bolt, elastic gasket, sealing gasket and other structures.Based on the models, the bearing performances of the segmental joint with gaskets from beginning bearing to ultimate failure were studied. The results indicated that the bearing performance of the segmental joint with gaskets is very complex. For the sagging moment case, the bearing performance can be divided into four stages by the three key points which are elastic gasket started to open, concrete at external edge started to contact and elastic gasket fully opened. For the hogging moment case, the bearing performance can be divided into three stages by two key points which were sealing gasket opened and elastic gasket started to open. The joint bending stiffnesses are significantly influenced by the axial forces, and the curves of the moment-rotations relationship with different axial forces still meet the basic law that can be divided into four stages in sagging moment case and three stages in hogging moment case. The joint ultimate states subject to the bending moments are commonly that the concrete at the edges of the segmental jointed yield firstly. Therefore, in engineering practice, it is necessary to protect or strengthen the concrete at these positions.
