Abstract:
Natural gravel is mainly acidic rock.Adding cement, anti-stripping agent and other measures can make the water stability of core wall asphalt concrete with gravel aggregate qualified. However, there were relatively few studies on the long-term durability of core wall asphalt concrete with natural gravel aggregate, so the application of natural gravel aggregate in engineering is still doubtful. In this paper, the evolution law of mechanical and deformation performance of asphalt concrete with gravel aggregate under long-term immersion in high temperature water and after freeze-thaw cycles was systematically analyzed. And the durability of asphalt concrete with gravel aggregate for core wall was further investigated. The results showed that the long-term water stability of asphalt concrete with gravel aggregate and anti-stripping agent is similar to that of asphalt concrete with limestone aggregate, which also possesses excellent freeze-thaw resistance. In addition, the porosity of asphalt concrete has great influence on the bending strength and its freeze-thaw damage variables, maximum flexural strain and maximum compressive strain. Therefore, it is of great significance to improve the compacting degree and decrease the porosity of the asphalt concrete in the core wall to ensure the bending strength and deformation performance of the asphalt concrete for core wall.
