Abstract: The Yangtze River Protection Law stipulates the management system of the catalogue of drinking water sources in the Yangtze River Basin, and also confirms the statutory duty of the water administrative department for the water sources protection.In order to further implement the requirements of the Yangtze River Protection Law, on the basis of a comprehensive analysis on the current situation of drinking water source management in the Yangtze River Basin, we analyzed the requirements for the management of drinking water sources in the Yangtze River Basin, and proposed ideas and suggestions for strengthening the regulation.The research results can strengthen drinking water source protection system mentioned in the Yangtze River Protection Law, providing a basis for the decision makers to strengthen regulation of drinking water sources.Moreover, it is conductive to establish a water source protection system based on the management of water source catalogues, further to restore the ecological environment of rivers and lakes.
