Abstract:
Evaluation on ecological health in source area of Changjiang River based on Benthic Index of Biotic Integrity(B-IBI)can be a reference basis for river management of this region. This paper carried out ecological health assessment and analysis on each river section of the source of the Changjiang River.According to the results of the survey and monitoring of macrobenthic invertebrates in seven typical sections of the Tuotuo River and Dangqu River in August(wet season)and October(dry season)of 2022,the B-IBI was calculated by four parameters, namely the total number of taxonomic units, the percentage of chironomid individuals, the percentage of individuals in dominant groups and the percentage of individuals in adherents.Based on this index, the evaluation index system and standard of ecological health of the source area of the Changjiang River were constructed and evaluated. The results show that the source of the Changjiang River is generally in a healthy state, however with low scores in local sections, especially the section from the Bolongqu River convergent entrance to Tanggulashan Town, which is seriously damaged. It is preliminarily inferred that this section passes through a densely populated area and is polluted by a large load.It is suggested to focus on the damaged river section and carry out targeted ecological rehabilitation.
