Abstract:
The maximum dam height of an asphalt concrete face rockfill dam of the upper reservoir of a pumped storage power station in Jurong County, Jiangsu Province is 182.3m. At present, there is no design and practical experience of asphalt concrete face rockfill dam with a dam height of more than 100 m. According to the design concept of high rockfill dam, the technical scheme was determined from the aspects of dam slope stability, seepage control, deformation control, panel and connecting plate design. The dam body was constructed in district by using the mixture of completely and strongly weathered porphyrite excavated from reservoir basin area. The requirements on porosity and particle gradation of dam materials meeting the deformation control standards were proposed. The filter and transition materials meeting the filter criteria were arranged below the face slab and connecting plate. The asphalt concrete face slab that was more suitable for operation of pumped storage power stations and had good stress condition was selected as anti-seepage body. The structural design of the connecting slab ensures the reliable connection between the anti-seepage bodies. The research results can provide guidance and reference for the construction of asphalt concrete face rockfill dams with height more than 100 m.
