Abstract:
The single-unit capacity of the hydro-generator unit in Wudongde Hydropower Station is 850MW, ranking the second in the world, and it is characterized as complex operating conditions and difficult design and installation. In order to solve the above technical problems, a large amount of analysis and research work were carried out on the operating conditions, hydraulic design, structural characteristics, and on-site processing and installation of the turbine in combination with the engineering characteristics, so the excellent turbine design parameters were obtained. At the same time, by conducting special research, a comprehensive runner development method based on the ‘quantification method of hydraulic turbine efficiency weighting factor’, a design scheme of underground joint runner processing plant, and a method to advance the installation progress of the unit based on the installation strength index were put forward. The research results had provided a guarantee for the smooth commissioning of the Wudongde Hydropower Station units, promoted the progress of the industry’s science and technology, and obtained significant social and economic benefits, which can provide reference for the design of giant turbines in the future.
