Abstract:
The nine major plateau lakes in Yunnan Province are predominantly closed or semi-closed lakes, with Dianchi, Chenghai, Qilu, Xingyun, Yilong Lake classified as typical treatment lakes. The nine plateau lakes basin is confronted with severe ecological challenges arising from natural factors and human activities, including the degradation of forests and grasslands in mountainous areas, significant agricultural and rural pollution, deterioration of water quality in inflow rivers to the lakes, instability in the water environment at the lake shoreline and within the lake body, and the urgent need to improve the modernization level of the comprehensive supervision capacity and systematic management capacity of the basin. In view of prominent ecological and environmental problems, guided by the concept of life community of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands and desertification areas, and targeting at improving the ecological function and ecological value of the nine lakes basins, we proposed a systematic restoration framework that focuses on restoring the water quality of the nine lakes basins. The framework included five aspects: protection and restoration of mountain forests and grasslands, comprehensive control of agricultural and rural non-point source pollution, restoration of the water ecological environment in rivers entering the lake, treatment and restoration of the water environment in lakeside zones and lake bodies, as well as improvement in comprehensive supervision capacity, which is detailed in 23 directions specifically. The existing mature and effective restoration technologies and remediation measures were sorted out and integrated into the framework. We expect the proposed framework and measures can take effect in ecological restoration of the nine lakes basins.
