Abstract: Taking the red layer landslide in Yeping, Ruijin City of Jiangxi Province as an example, the external characteristics and internal mechanic variation of the landslide are analyzed by numerical analysis software of FLAC and the failure mechanism is explored. The analysis results demonstrate that the excavation is the main factor causing the landslide failure, due to complicated internal stress distribution of the landslide, any form of disturbances will cause the landslide instability. The treatment method and the remarks aiming at the red layer landslide in Jiangxi Province are put forward, which provides correlative basis for solving the treatment of red layer landslide specially existed in Jiangxi Province and the prevention measures for similar accidents in future.
