Abstract
Landslides occur frequently in reservoir area because of the fluctuation of impounded level. The ship anchor chains may be broken when the landslide generated waves act on the anchored ships, which may lead to greater disasters. To study the propagation characteristics of the landslide generated waves and reduce its damage on the ships, a physical model to simulate the waves generated by rock landslide is designed. The empirical formulas of the primary wave height, the attenuation coefficient of wave height and the maximum tension of anchor chains are obtained by using the multiple linear regression method; and then the calculation formula of the safe anchorage scope of the ships under hydrostatic condition is deduced. The above formulas provide an important basis for setting out the risk-controlling measures for the ships near landslide sites and predicting the damage range of landslide generated waves.
