Abstract
The dam site of the third-cascade hydropower station on Yunlong River is a typical v-shaped narrow valley. The construction of full-face rolling and dam height continuous rising required the joint design is reasonable, which is important to improving stress condition of the dam and ensuring safety of the dam. According to the characteristics of the dam, a new joint design of bottom induced crack and upper transverse joints for RCC arch dam was proposed for the first time. The joint design can ensure the structure safe in the water impoundment with lower monolith during construction period, and also ensure joint forming in the predetermined positions in arch closure grouting. By calculation analysis and the practical construction and operation of the concrete dam, the joints design is proved reasonable.
