Coupling mechanism of coordinated development of land use and water-energy-food systems in Yangtze River Economic Belt

    • Studying the coupling mechanism and coordinated development of land use and water-energy-food systems contributes to regional resource management and synergistic cooperation.Taking the Yangtze River Economic Belt as the case study, this paper analyzed the mechanism of coupled and coordinated development of water-energy-food-land system and constructed a corresponding comprehensive evaluation index system. The coupled coordination degree model and spatial correlation analysis were used to measure the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics and spatial linkages of the coupled and coordinated development of water-energy-food-land system in the study area from 2005 to 2020.The results show that:(1) The comprehensive evaluation index of water-energy-food-land system in the Yangtze River Economic Zone from 2005 to 2020 kept rising, the coupling degree reached a high level coupling stage, and the coupling coordination degree went through five stages(barely coordination-preliminary coordination-intermediate coordination-good coordination-high quality coordination).(2) The coupling degree among provinces and cities reached a high level of coupling stage, and the level of coordinated development was at the stage of preliminary coordination and intermediate coordination, showing a trend of upstream areas>midstream areas>downstream areas in general.(3) The spatial concentration of coupling coordination was unstable, the positive and negative spatial correlation fluctuated strongly, and the distribution pattern was prone to change.
