Construction schedule monitoring and early warning for high arch dam based on BIM and 3D LST

    • Most high arch dams in China are constructed in high mountain and gorge regions, where environmental and resource constraints pose significant challenges. The construction process is highly complex, making progress control difficult. To achieve integrated information management, enable query and analysis of planned versus actual progress during the pouring process, and facilitate real-time progress monitoring and early warning, this paper proposes a method combining Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Three-Dimensional Laser Scanning Technology (3D LST).A high arch dam construction progress monitoring and early warning platform was developed and applied to engineering case studies for validation. The results demonstrate that the platform can query and download construction progress data for each pouring block of the high arch dam at different times, elevations, and throughout the entire pouring cycle.Additionally, it enables dynamic simulation of dam construction progress, timely detection of deviations, and early warning. The findings provide valuable insights for accelerating high arch dam construction and improving on-site construction management efficiency.
